Minister of Music

Nevin Bender

A first-place winner in the MTNA Virginia State Piano Competition, Nevin Bender holds degrees in Piano Performance and French from Eastern Mennonite University and Catholic University. He has been active in the metropolitan area over the past twenty years as a chamber musician, accompanist, and organist. Additionally, Mr. Bender serves as Music Director at Washington Waldorf School in Bethesda, MD. 

Luther Place Chancel Choir

The chancel choir sings every Sunday at the 11:00 service. The choir's most important function is to lead congregational singing of the liturgy and hymns. In addition, the choir sings a diverse repertoire of sacred music from many periods and traditions: from medieval chants and Renaissance motets to spirituals to music of the present day. The choir is based on volunteers and is open to all who enjoy singing and can hold a tune! Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 P.M. at Luther Place. Luther Place Community Choir

The dynamic 9 A.M. praise band of Luther Place is a blend of keyboard, guitars, saxophone, and drums with 4-part vocal harmonies that will move your soul!  We meet every Sunday at 8 A.M. in the sanctuary and rehearse until service time at 9 A.M.  If you love to sing, please consider joining this ministry of Luther Place and enjoy upbeat, spiritually stirring contemporary songs--while letting your light so shine!
