About Us

History

Named to honor John and Erna Steinbruck, co-founders of N Street Village, the Steinbruck Center for Urban Studies was started in 2001 as a means to educate people on the N Street Village model and share the history of Luther Place Memorial Church. Though it continues to draw from those aspects of its past, the Steinbruck Center is expanding to reach people of all age groups through a variety of programs that address homelessness and poverty, specifically in the Washington, D.C. area.
