Resources Past Service Partners N Street Village offers a continuum of services that meet the immediate and long-term needs of homeless women. Services include a day center, night shelter, Wellness Center, addiction recovery programs and community living for those with mental illness. Bread for the City provides vulnerable residents of Washington, DC with comprehensive services including food, clothing, medical care, legal and social services in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. The Capital Area Food Bank distributes around 20 million pounds of food a year to member agencies, and is the largest, public nonprofit hunger and nutrition education resource in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area Covenant House provides shelter and service to homeless and runaway youth. DC Central Kitchen offers a variety of services, including a culinary job-training program for unemployed men and women who are either homeless or receiving public assistance, and street-level meal services, referral, and counseling services to people who are homeless in Washington, DC. Food and Friends cares for people living with HIV/AIDS and other life-challenging illnesses by providing home-delivered freshly prepared meals and groceries and nutrition counseling. It is the only nonprofit organization in the Washington, DC region providing these services. So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E.) is an interfaith, community-based organization that seeks to help poor and homeless people access food, clothing, and health care. They also offer services such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling to the poor, the elderly and individuals with mental illness. Washington Parks & People is working to revitalize parks in inner city and diverse areas in the Washington, D.C. area to strengthen communities and lower crime. |
